Politico‘s Brent Griffiths has written an article today, “Trump praises Carter, slams media” (https://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/28/trump-praises-jimmy-carter-media-244269).
As everyone who follows the news knows, the current occupant of the White House has declared war on the media, especially The New York Times.
Among his forty-four tweets today, Trump, as usual, lambasted the media. Today, in one of them, he praised President Jimmy Carter.
President Carter, who, among other things, achieved a measure of temporary peace in Israel/Palestine, said that Trump has been treated harshly by the media.
Recently, he told The Times’ Maureen Dowd, “I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that I’ve known about. I think they feel free to claim that Trump is mentally deranged and everything else without hesitation.”
The 93-year old former president is, of course, much more mentally stable than the present occupant of the White House.
President Carter offered to go to Pyongyang to talk sense to Kim Jongun.
President Clinton has gone to Pyongyang to rescue two American journalists who were unlawfully arrested and held in North Korea. As President Clinton said at the time (we are paraphrasing), “North Korea doesn’t like to be ignored, so they capture innocent Americans, put them in jail, and make us worry about them."
Associate solitary reporters Johanna Jones and Susanna Sherman fully expect that when Trump visits China’s autocrat, Xi Jin-ping, in Beijing, Trump will fly to Pyongyang with a full military escort led by Defense Secretary James Mattis so Trump can try to browbeat Kim into, among other things, getting a better haircut.
