Yesterday, former Wichita Tea Party Congressman Mike Pompeo reversed forty years of US policy toward the illegal Israeli settlements on the West Bank.
In a blatant move to shore up Bibi Netanyahu’s chances of yet again becoming Israel’s Prime Minister, Pompeo said the US will not oppose Israeli expansion onto lands they’s not supposed to occupy.
And the EU is firmly opposed, as it should be: https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-holds-firm-on-west-bank-settlements-as-us-eases-stance/.
Tomorrow is the time line for Netayahu’s opponent, General Benny Gantz, to form a government, and if that doesn’t work, then Israel may have to hold a third round of elections.
It’s really no surprise that Pompeo took that dangerous step, because his boss, Donald Trump, is our Distractor-in-Chief; in other words, anything to district the public from the Impeachment Inquiry.
Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a staffer for the National Security Council, stood up to the Bully-in-Chief today and said that what he heard Trump say to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25 was clearly inappropriate.
In other words, with all the highly damanging testimony, especially today, in the House Impeachment Inquiry, Trump’s days are numbered.
Not only that, but Rudy Giuliani, who runs more than one cybersecurity company, and goes all over the world giving speeches about how to prevent unauthorized communications being leaked to the wrong people, has been called out for using his cell phone on an unsecured line as Trump’s shadow Secretary of State, meaning that the Russians can hear exactly what he’s saying.
And Devin Nunes, in his capacity as Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, did his usual hatchet job of defending Trump and rankling Democrats, as Trump attacked the widely respected Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, because that’s all Trump does, is vilify people who stand up against him.
