Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, wants to be President.
He’s a Trumpite if there ever was one, so if Donald runs in 2024, Gov. Ron will have to stay mum in Tallahassee.
Now DeSantis, seeking to capture Trump’s base base, wants to block school mask mandates, just as the Delta Variant is threatening more and more people in the so-called Sunshine State.
But local officials in Florida aren’t at all happy, because on Wednesday, 17,589 new Florida Covid-19 cases were reported (https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2021/07/30/desantis-seeks-to-block-school-mask-mandates-in-florida-amid-covid-surge-1389293).
Enter associate solitary reporter Jim Mangam, a stalwart Democrat in a red state. Mangam visited DeSantis in Tallahassee this morning to challenge DeSantis to defend his decision to avoid the sensible CDC guidelines.
“Jim, just between you and me, my stand on Covid is not in the least defendable, I just say that stuff to gain even more cred with Trump.”
“Just don’t tell your friend the solitary reporter in Denver what I just said.”
