Joe Manchin has been a fly in President Biden’s ointment for a long time.
Manchin, a Democrat who was a popular Governor of West Virginia, otherwise known as Coal Country, conferred the other day with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and hopefully rescued President Biden from the embarrassment, just ahead of the midterms, of having not much legislation passed.
Manchin talks too much and has an enormous ego, and whenever he leaves his Senate office, CNN’s Manu Raju and other top-level reporters follow him wherever he goes.
Now that Manchin is (temporarily at least) part of the Biden Agenda, he has, as usual, gone overboard.
As witnessed only by our intrepid band of associate solitary reporters, Manchin is now bragging about how he has converted his junior colleague, Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican, to the Democratic Faith.
“I got tired of McConnell tromping into my office five times a day,” Capito explained to our Chief Congressional Correspondent, associate solitary reporter Melissa Smith, “so now Joe and I are gonna sing “Happy Days Are Here Again” ‘cause at heart Joe and I are both FDR Democrats.”
